Nightwing Returns to a Fan-Favorite Costume in 2022

DC artist Bruno Redondo shared the first look at covers to January 2022’s Nightwing #88 featuring the return of a fan-favorite costume.

Dick Grayson is returning to a fan-favorite costume in January 2022’s Nightwing #88.

Nightwing artist Bruno Redondo unveiled the main and variant covers for Nightwing #88, featuring the return of Dick Grayson’s signature blue stripes running from his shoulders down to his fingertips. The 1-in-25 variant cover also offers a more detailed look at Redondo’s notes pertaining to certain aspects of the suit.

For example, Redondo notes how Nightwing’s eagle-chest logo is positioned higher than in previous suits, a new v-shape neck and blue soles on the boots. As for Nightwing’s combat sticks, they have a wire and claw that can shoot out of them, allowing Nightwing to swing through the Bludhaven skyline. Finally, we get close-ups of how the blue stripes run down the arms and gloves, as well as it’s position on the back of the costume.

We also see Nightwing and Barbara Gordon in a warm embrace on Jamal Campbell’s variant cover, which plays up the renewed relationship between the duo. Barbara’s Batgirl cowl, glasses and laptop rest on a table, with the laptop screen displaying the Anti-Oracle that will begin to plague the series.
